It began...
in the winter of 1984 in Berkeley, California. The movie was "Nightshift", and Michael Keaton uttered the words, "Hey, I'm "Billy Blaze", I can do anything." The statement symbolized the American spirit, "nothing's impossible." It reflected the adventures of "Bill and Blaze", a series of stories by author C.W. Anderson, about a young boy, Bill, and his valiant horse, Blaze.

I drew parallels to both characters created by Michael Keaton and C.W. Anderson. I wasn't sure if I could make it through the educational curriculum of college. I found comfort by taking long drives with my 1977 candy apple red Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme. The roar of its 403 cubic inch, 4bbl Rochester carburetor, soothed my mind. It took me to many places. It was my horse. It was my "Blaze."

Blaze assured me, nothing's impossible. I believed in this, and I would mock Michael Keaton's phrase, "I'm Billy Blaze, I can do anything." And so my friends John, Wes, Sandy, Glenn, Steve, Jon O., Russ, and Brad, labeled me as "Billy Blaze." When times were tough, we'd hit the road, and thus my 77 Cutlass, was originally named the "Billy Blaze Mobile."

But the name seemed too whimsical for a car which also had great horsepower. It seemed more like the powerful rocket ship "Ironman One", which propelled David Jansen into space, as he saved our astronauts, in the movie "Marooned." This powerful ship, combined with Michael Keaton and C.W. Anderson's spirit, has created the name, "Blaze One."

I made it through the tough educational curriculum, and my horse? Well, Blaze grew older and wiser too, maturing into the high performance LS1, Chevrolet Camaro Z28. Blaze One, or if time is short, BLS1.
